About The Hampstead Gardener

The Hampstead Gardener is a small, privately owned business based in Hampstead and Highgate in North London. We specialise in urban gardens, patios and window boxes. We are a team of female gardeners which undertake both general garden maintenance as well as design/build projects. With a professional and trustworthy team of women, we are proud to aid our valued and distinguished clients.


Alison (Ali) McKnight - Director: Ali grew up gardening. One of her first jobs was as a neighbourhood gardener in a NYC suburb. After getting a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from New York University and spending more than 15 years working in asset management in New York and London, Ali returned to gardening in 2014, bringing her professionalism and high standards to improving London gardens. In addition to being the main client contact, she is also responsible for managing the administrative and financial aspects of The Hampstead Gardener. Ali is working towards an advanced degree in Horticulture and has taken a RHS level 2 Diploma in the Principles and Practices of Horticulture at Capel Manor College in Regents Park.

Where: Because most of our clients come to us as referrals and word of mouth, most of our work tends to be in North London. However, we serve all areas of London and are happy to travel even outside of London on request.

We currently make regular visits to the following post codes: NW1, NW2, NW3, NW5, NW6, NW7, NW8, NW10, NW11, N1, N2,  N3, N4, N5, N6, N8, N10, N11, N12, N13, N15, N16.

When: Our flexible schedule allows us to fit in with your requirements, generally not the other way around. Whether it is a weekday, weekend or before or after work. We will always try to make time to see you when it's convenient for you.
